Event: October Membership Meeting- Paul Bowen on “How, Where, When, & with Whom I Fly Fish These Days”

Oct
12

Join us at our new meeting location- the Fairbridge Inn and Suites.   We will hear Paul Bowen discuss  his approach to local rivers, streams and lakes.

Paul was born and raised on a farm on the banks of the South Fork just a mile east of the Lorenzo Bridge, and still lives there today. With the exception of 9 years spent in Pocatello, Paul has lived here all his life. (Going strong on 70 years).  Paul took up Fly Fishing shortly after his marriage in 1969. Before long Paul could see that for economic reasons he needed to learn to tie his own own flys. It wasn’t long before friends and acquaintances began to ask Paul to tie flys for them.  Paul has been tying flys now since the early 70’s. Back when Herters, hunting, and road kill were about the only suppliers of materials available to most tiers. Paul was one of the first two people to be certified by FFF as a fly casting instructor, and has been Fly Tyer of the Year for the WRCFFF.  Paul has presented numerous programs for local fly-fishing clubs, FFF conclaves, and our local fly-tying expo since its inception.  Paul has been a fly-fishing guide on the Henry’s Fork and South Fork and has been floating area rivers and fishing from a drift boat since the early 1980’s, and has had the privilege of fishing in numerous places around the world
