Ben Martin at Idaho Fish and Game is looking for volunteers to assist with a barge electrofishing survey on the upper Fall River on Monday and Wednesday next week (11/10 & 11/12).
Barge shocking is similar to a backpack shocker, but everything is loaded into an inflatable canoe and you walk with the setup downstream.
Ben is trying to identify as many folks as possible (up to 12) to do this survey.
It should be noted that the Fall River is among the hardest to wade rivers – the substrate is a lot of slick softball sized cobble.
For safety, volunteers should be in good shape and have good balance.
The plan is to meet at the Idaho Fish and Game Field Office in Idaho Fall (4279 Commerce Circle Idaho Falls, ID 83401) at 8am and be back around 5pm each day.
