Event: Tie One On- fly tying demo with DAVE RAISCH

Feb
21

Join us Tuesday February 21 at the Tap-N-Fill for a fly tying demo by local expert Dave Raisch

Dave Raisch was born in Pennsylvania, but grew up in Ohio. Always interested in fishing, living in that part of the country meant warm water species would be mostly available. He moved to Idaho to attend ISU in the spring of 1998 to study for a master’s degree and wanted to fly fish badly.  His thesis project involved fish distributions and water quality within the Portneuf River, Idaho. On studying for this degree and being in the field, our region’s cool, clear waters hosting mostly trout fascinated him. He began tying flies over ten years ago and has also taught fly tying classes at the beginner and intermediate level. He enjoys being creative with fly tying and has sold flies commercially. Streamers and big dries are his specialties. He also enjoys tying flies for big, selective trout! He has demonstrated his tying skills at the East Idaho Fly Tying & Fly Fishing  Expo for a number of years in the past. He particularly enjoys tying flies for the river around American Falls Reservoir, the South Fork, and the Henry’s Fork, all special places to fish.
